about evergreen church

Our purpose is that all would come to know Christ and grow in Him

The principles that guide our behavior are:

Biblical Integrity

We read Scripture with the author’s original intent in mind and develop all our theology from that foundation.

Gentle and Lowly

We treat others with care and humility, following the example of Christ who put others first.

Thoughtful Obedience

We treat others with care and humility, following the example of Christ who put others first.

Sunday Mornings at Evergreen

Our worship service begins at 10:45 am with the entire church body worshipping together. Before the sermon, children ages 3-11 are dismissed to Evergreen Kid’s Classes and nursery is available for infants-age 2. Children need to be picked up from their various classes after the service.

There are occasional Sundays when children stay for the duration of the service. This is a way for kids to get used to “big church.” Busy bags and kids’ notes are provided during these services.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament to be verbally and plenarily inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe that dispensationalism is the result of a consistent, literal, grammatical and historical interpretation of Scripture. (1 Cor. 2:9-13; ; Col. 1:25-28; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

  • We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, eternally consisting of three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-2; Exodus 3:14 Deut. 6:4; 1 Kings 8:27; Isaiah 43:10, 44:6; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1-3;; Col 1:15-17)

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is true deity, co-equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. His humanity was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is therefore true man. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. (Matt. 1:18; John 3:16; Rom. 9:5; Phil. 2:6-7; Heb. 1:8-10)

  • We believe the Holy Spirit to be a Person, co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit during this dispensation is to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, seal, empower and sanctify the believer for godly living and service. Believers sealed by the Holy Spirit are sealed unto the day of completed redemption. (Acts 5:3,4,9; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:3; Eph. 1:13-14; Titus 3:5)

  • We believe that Adam and Eve were created in the image and likeness of God. We believe that He created all humans with immutable biological characteristics of either the male sex or female sex. We believe God calls each individual to express their sexuality according to the guidelines set forth in the Bible. We believe that Adam sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature. (Gen. 1:27; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 59:2; Mat. 5:27-32; Rom. 1:26-27, 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; Eph. 2:3; 1 Tim. 2:13-14)

  • We believe that the sinless Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that He was buried and bodily rose again. All who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood and thus are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God and temples of the Holy Spirit. (John 1:12; 3:16; 10:28; Rom. 4:9; 1 Cor. 3:16; 15:3-4; Eph. 1:14; 1 John 3:1-2, 5:11-13)

  • We believe that the local church is an assembly of believers, organized for prayer worship, work and fellowship. The Body of Christ is a spiritual organism made up of all believers everywhere in Christ. We believe that the two ordinances of the church are water baptism and the Lord's Supper, neither of which has any merit for salvation.

We believe the application of this doctrine is: that the local church is an independent and self-governing assembly responsible alone to Christ Who is its Savior and Lord(Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:41-42; Rom. 6:3-5; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; 12:12-27;; Eph. 5:23)

  • We believe in "That Blessed Hope," the personal, pretribulational, premillennial and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (Daniel 9:24-27; Matthew 24:27-36; 1 Thess. 4:13-18, 5:2-6; 2 Thess. 2:1-12; Titus 2:13; Revelation 20:1-3)
